Message Please email Mike Smith with your specific questions @msperformance@earthlink.net, as I don't know the answers to all of your questions. He has used the 740's extensively in the 90-94 Z's, and says that the added benefit of the superior spray pattern and larger capacity more than offset any negative repercussions of any flow impingement on the lower plenum.

:I spent the money and purchased the lower plenum and fuel rails just to research the fitment, and I merely brought up legitimate concerns about the design of the plenum. Keep in mind that Nissan had to re-cast the heads because the ports are different, it seems to be excessive if it was only necessary to change the lower plenum.

I certainly appreciate your efforts. While you bring up legitimate concerns, your assesment of the possible consequences are speculation, not verified facts.

I am concerned only that we are not fully aware of all the Nissan design parameters on this issue.

I agree

Also I just want to mention that not that many people have actually done the 740cc injector conversion. I personally only know of one that is running, and it is unknown as to how well it is running with this setup vs. the alternatives.

Most people don't need injectors that big. But ZHOUND, Seb, and Mike Kojima run 740's. Mike Smith talked me out of running 555's. He is very conservative with his advice, and has learned from lots of experience. And if you're running GT2530's or bigger with *ALL* of the supporting mods, I think you will need bigger than 555's.

:Lastly, I simply think there are better alternatives to this setup, the Nismo 555cc is adequate for 90% of the people here, and beyond that I think the Border 850cc setup is superior.

Maybe so, although I'm not sold on the benefits of the border setup. The single pintle design of the border is no better than the early style injectors in regards to fuel atomization. The fuel strean is aimed at the divider between the intake valves, and is not as well atomized as with the 740 injectors. The big question is: Does this cause more fuel puddling than what might occur by retrofitting the 740's to an earlier intake/head combination?

The main benefit (imho) of the border setup aside from the increased capacity is that it is a direct bolt-on setup, whereas the 740 retrofit is not.

BTW, I mean no disrespect, I just don't quite agree with your conclusion

And, yes, this board is full of haters. Get used to it. A large proportion of members on this board are well educated and more conservative in their opinions of aesthetics. In other words, we basically think that body kits which destroy the lines of the car and purple neon brake caliper accents are fucking stupid.
